Post From Steve:
One thing you can always count on – fashion is constantly changing/ Currently leggings and athletic wear are the rage. Just about anywhere you go you’ll see a high percentage of women dressed in leggings or some other type of athletic clothing.
I know the comfort factor has to be one of the reasons this look took off and has stayed around for a few years now. But all this is about to change. The new style coming out is about as far from skin tight as you can go. What’s this new trend? Over-sized Bell Bottom jeans and slacks. Talk about counter opposites! For those of us that can remember the 70’s – this style was around then – and I wasn’t a big fan then and don’t think I will be this time either.
For retailers to survive, I guess they have to shake things up a bit – but this wouldn’t have been my choice! Get ready for this one to hit your favorite store soon!
Response from Julie:
Come on Steve – bell bottoms were a lot of fun to wear! I’ve already bought myself a pair and love wearing them! I hope its a style that will stay around for while!!!!
Where has winter gone? Yes, I know a bunch of you are in the middle of snow and miserable weather – including my partner Julie. But I live in the South and last winter cold weather was almost non-existent, and so far this year, our weather seems just as mild. While I appreciate the mild weather for the most part, I do realize that we need the cold to limit or control some of the insect population. Also, I know retail depends on changes of the seasons to support new clothing sales. I know last year was a disaster for retailers in the South due to both a warm fall and winter. Hot or cold, it seems mother nature has been a little confused on what season to show us.
Post script from Julie: Speak for yourself Steve – Mother Nature knows exactly what she’s doing in my neck of the woods! We did have a mild fall but she is working overtime the last few weeks! My sweaters, heavy socks and boots are getting very good use!
With the seasons changing, its time to move out the summer clothes and move in my winter clothes. I started with my shoes – goodbye sandals and flipflops – hello boots and closed toe shoes!
Its always a good time to look them over and weed out those that are REALLY out of style and probably have seen better days. So in hopes that I might get to replace a pair or two – I’ve been checking into what’s new and what should be in anyone’s closet. Here’s what I found:
The Block Heel – extremely versatile and very comfortable – hallelujah!!!
The Sneaker – another comfy option – wear it with leggings and an over-sized sweater.
The Classic Pump – no longer just for work – wear it with skinny jeans – who knew?
The Pointy Toe Flat – comfort seems to be “in” this year – plus they make your legs look longer! Wear them with tights and a skirt or your boyfriend jeans and a tunic.
